Susan K. Rosemeyer, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, December 12th at her home, surrounded by the love of her family. A memorial gathering will be held at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, East 39th Street in Davenport, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18th. At a later date, a service will be held at the Orfordville Lutheran Church in Orfordville, WI. Sue was born on November 11, 1953, the daughter of John Tollefson. She and her siblings would make their homes with their Aunt Mary and Jerry Ehle in Orfordville, WI. She graduated from Parkview High School in 1971. There were few activities that Sue did not participate in during high school. From marching band, 4-H, drama and cheer squad, she was an active participant. Also excelling academically, she received recognition to the National Honor Society for academic achievement. She later attended Blackhawk Technological College and graduated as a Certified Medical Secretary. While employed at the Monroe Medical Clinic, she met her future husband, Ross. They would marry on August 16, 1975 at the Orfordville Lutheran Church, Orfordville, WI. They would make their home for fifteen years in Cedar Falls, IA where Sue was employed as Office Manager at Trapp Real Estate and Ross as an Orthopedic Physician’s Assistant to Dr. Arnold Delbridge. There they would welcome their daughter, Traci who was born on November 11, 1988. In 1992, they made their move to Davenport, IA. Here Sue opted to do home child care in order to be able to spend more time with her daughter. A dedicated mother, Sue was to be active in all of her daughter’s school events from kindergarten through high school and beyond. Her door was always open to Traci’s friends, she was a second mom to many. Embodying a part of her Norwegian heritage, Sue was often the calm in the midst of life’s challenges. Her good sense, practicality and enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures were a vital part of her persona. As a couple, and later with their daughter, they spent vacations travelling to our nation’s most scenic parks, particularly fond of those in the far west. Hiking the trails, meeting the challenges of the more strenuous, Sue became a dedicated hiker. She would rarely if ever give up any of them. Ever adaptable, because her husband loved skiing, she braved the slopes and learned to ski. She and Ross won awards for photography largely due to his devotion to photography. Sue did her best to adapt to this also. The family was to find their favorite scenic retreat in a cabin on the North Shore in Minnesota. Cameras in hand, they hiked all of the known trails and discovered a few of their own. They would spend many vacations there in the serenity and beauty of the area, often accompanied by their parents. Sue will be sadly missed by her family and all those whose lives she has touched. Rest easy Sue. You are in the Lord’s hands. She is survived by her Father, John Tollefson, her Aunt Mary Ehle, her sister, Janelle Dumer, niece, Stephanie Dumer and nephew, Nicholas Dumer. Also, all of the members of the Francis Rosemeyer family of whom she became in every sense a valued member. She was preceded in death by her sister, Luann and her brother, Ernie Tollefson.
