Tadeusz was born on April 8th, 1964, in Stoczek, Poland, to Edward Wojtkowski and Stanisława Wojtkowska, where he spent his early years helping his parents and siblings on the farm, and taking pride in the mushrooms he picked from the forest.
As a young man, Tadeusz lived throughout Europe, attending university and playing professional handball. Eventually, he set his sights on the United States, where he’d move to Chicago, meet his wife, Marzena, and build their American dream together.
Tadeusz was a devoted husband to his wife, Marzena, whom he affectionately called “Stokrotka”, and a loving father to his daughter, Carolyn. He never missed an opportunity to bring them flowers, or to grill them the perfect steak, no matter the time of day. He was an incredibly hardworking and reliable man, always putting his family first. For more than 30 years, he took great pride in his business installing windows and doors, serving communities across Iowa and Illinois in his signature white box truck.
Outside of work, Tadeusz found his greatest joy in spending time outdoors with family and friends, passing on his love of nature to his daughter, Carolyn. No matter how long his workday had been, he would come home ready to take her out for skiing, tennis, kayaking, sailing, hiking, or any new activity they could find.
These shared passions also deepened his bond with his best friend, Wojtek Ryba, the Ryba family, and the Birski family. Together, they created a childhood filled with adventure, laughter, and unforgettable memories for their children.
Tadeusz will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He brought kindness, humor, and a bit of mischief wherever he went. We look forward to honoring his memory by carrying those qualities forward.
He is survived by his wife, Marzena Wojtkowski; his daughter, Carolyn Wojtkowski; his brother, Andrzej Wojtkowski; his sisters, Anna Wojtkowska and Krystyna Wiaranowska; and his goddaughter, Amanda Bieńkowska.
He was preceded in death by his father Edward Wojtkowski and his mother Stanisława Wojtkowska.
“Grief is the price of love, and I’d pay it a thousand times to have had you as my father.”
