Teddy "Ted" J. Childers

Teddy J. “Ted” Childers, 76, of Davenport, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Genesis West Medical Center. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10:00 am at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Galesburg, IL. Memorials may be made to Eldridge United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com. Ted was born January 7, 1936 in Galesburg, IL, the son of Harry K. and Helen (Wright) Childers. He was united in marriage to Delores “Dee” Hawkins on August 14, 1955 in Galesburg, IL. He worked for over thirty years at Sears & Roebuck Company retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Eldridge United Methodist Church where he was active in the choir. He also loved to read, garden, play cards and especially spend time with his family and friends. Ted was an avid Cardinals and Packer’s fan.Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife, Dee, Davenport, children and spouses: Dennise (Bill) Wullweber, Eldridge, IA; Lisa (Ted) Rogalski, Davenport, IA; Chris Childers (Barb Godsil), Alton, IL; grandchildren: Teddi, Heidi (Jason), Dylan, Matt, Jillian, Cameron, Natalie, Kate, Brian, Doug and Daren; great grandchildren, Owen and Kolten and a brother, Harry, Galesburg, IL. His parents and brothers, Richard and Ronald preceded him in death.
