Terence "Terry" K. Docherty

Terence “Terry” K. Docherty, 85, of Davenport, Iowa passed Tuesday, July 30, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Funeral service to honor his memory will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:00 am Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Weerts Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Coal Valley Township Cemetery following the service. Memorials in Terry’s name may be made to Camp Courageous.

Terry was born on November 13, 1938 to Kenneth and Fern Docherty in Moline, Illinois. He graduated from Sherrard High School in 1956. Following high school, Terry started working for Caterpillar Tractor Company in 1958 in Bettendorf; he retired after 30 years in 1988. He joined the United States Army in 1959 and served during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Donna-Jeanne Icenogle, on November 23, 1962 in Terrell, Texas. He enjoyed his retirement by traveling, finding the best happy hours, and grilling for his friends and family. Terry was a member of the Rock Island Moose Club, the Davenport Elks Club, and the Milan American Legion.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 62 years, Jeanne; daughter Shelly (Joe) Martin; grandchildren Ryan (Katie) Shadden, Nick (Kayley) Martin, and Paige Martin; and great-grandchildren Lucy, Caleb, Blake, Kinnick, Maya, Conor, María, and Levi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Betsy Docherty, and grandson Brent Shadden.
