To the family and friends of Dr. Terry A. Bernard I wish to offer my hearfelt condolences. I just learned of the passing of Dr. Bernard. I had made his acquaintance back in the early 1990s when I was a student at Palmer College. During my externship, we collaborated on a journal article that was eventually published due to the steadfast tenacity of Dr. Bernard. He grew from that time from being my mentor to being a friend. Dr. Bernard was gracious enough to write two letters of recommendation on my behalf when I was considering applying to both law and medical school. I eventually matriculated into medical school which was due, I am certain, to Dr. Bernard's reference. Dr. Bernard always offered me kind words of encouragement when I was going through some very hard years. For that, I am grateful - always. 

Dr. Bernard did confide in me that he was ill but his words seemed to express more hope than fear. I believe that exemplified the true character of Dr. Bernard. He was a man of principle and a man of his word. He was a fine doctor who always gave the best to those he cared for. He strove for excellence in himself and expected the same in those he taught. I am sorry that I only recently learned of his death. He will be missed but not forgotten. His legacy will be carried forward by all who were fortunate to enough to have known him and by those he mentored. To his family and friends, please accept my deepest sympathies. Requiescat in pace Dr. B and thank you for everything.

I did not know that your dad was ill. It was a total shock to me. Our last conversation was about Palmer College and all those changes he wanted to accomplish. He must have been an incredible father because he always spoke about his children( when you were still little.) He lived for Chiropractic. Every time I drive by his office on Locust Str. I remember him. He will be missed a lot.

Dr. Bernard was a terrific teacher and inspiration to his students and I was saddened to hear of his passing.  His happy smile always made it a pleasure to work with him while I was in student clinic.  I will always have great memories of this wonderful man and doctor.

Dear Cari, Chris, Randy, Doug, and the beautiful grandchildren that Terry loved so much. My heart is so heavy in knowing of Terry's passing. Having read the beautiful tributes confirms what an exceptional individual that he was. I am better person in having known him. Our parents were great friends back in day and I went to Terry early on as my Chiro. We quickly morphed into good friends and enjoyed great times and helped each other through hard times. Terry was so accesible to everyone which it quite a gift these days. His grand smile, quite wit, caring, kindness, and intelligence will be greatly missed but never forgotten. I first knew Terry as a student in his class, then as a colleague and friend when I began working in the Palmer Clinics, and lastly as a mentor when his illness progressed and he knew he was going to step down from teaching in the classroom and I was going to be filling those big shoes.  He has left quite a legacy behind here at Palmer and will be greatly missed by all of us whose live he has touched.  My thoughts are with his family in this time of sadness and sorrow.

Terry was a great friend and colleague. I worked daily with him since October 1992. In fact, I had to work up and adjust Terry when I was first applying to Palmer college for employment. I remember I found a T1 PR and I was sweating bullets. I chose to adjust him with a modified thumb move. It went off without a hitch. We shared an office since I started in East Hall clinic and then later in the CHC basement (garden level). Many people didn't realize That Terry was a great bibliophile. He was constantly coming to the office with new books he had bought at the PCC bookstore. One day he said to me that he wanted to buy every book ever written by a chiropractor. I don't know how far he got in accomplishing his goal, but he must have quite the library at home. Terry was a great clinician and student. On his car was a specialized license plate with the word DABLE which Terry said stood for "Diplomat American Board of Basically Everything" He had a diplomat in orthopedics, He was also board eligible in neurology and radiology. Terry was not afraid to stir it up and stand up for what he believed in. This was very evident in his long service to the Palmer Faculty Senate. Terry was a great friend and will dearly missed.
