

Theodore W. “Ted” Hottenstein, 80, of Davenport, died Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Manor Care, East Locust. Funeral services will be Friday, September 7, 2012 at 1:00 pm at First Christian Church in Davenport. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the church or to the family.

Ted was born June 15, 1932 in Savanna, IL, the son of Fred and Mae (Young) Hottenstein. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He first married Jacqueline Ohl of Davenport; she preceded him in death in 1987. He married Janet “Jan” Smith on November 7, 1990 in Mt. Morris, IL.
Ted worked as a firefighter for the City of Davenport for thirty-five years. He served on their honor guard until he had to quit due to his health. His memberships include: First Christian Church, American Legion Post #26 and the VFW, all of Davenport. He was a great husband, wonderful dad and grandpa (or “poppy” as his great granddaughter Bela would call him). He enjoyed playing cards; especially euchre, with his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Jan, Davenport; daughters: Jan Lynn (Howard) McCall, Casper, WY; Beverly Reineke, Casper, WY; Debra Wiley and her companion, AJ Kapell of Blue Grass, IA; stepson, Jim Daugherty, Davenport; stepdaughter, Debra Gregory, Tennessee; grandchildren: Joshua & Jon Wiley; Nate & Stephanie Reineke; Christopher Clark; Kirsten, Chandelle & Evan McCall; Sean Pecoraro; Paul Daugherty; Kaden, Trisden & Landen Thomas and Katie (Matt), Augusta and Gracie Gregory; twelve great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. His parents and brothers: Phillip, Henry (Hank) and Freddy preceded him in death.
