

Theodore N. “Ted” Thompson, 79, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the mortuary with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital or a favorite charity.

Ted was born on November 7, 1933 in Muscatine, IA, the son of Averill J. and Matilda G. (Lobert) Thompson. He married Linda Redmon on August 8, 1959 in Moline, Illinois.
He retired in 1985 from John Deere Plow-Planter works as a toolroom supervisor and was a tool and die maker by trade.
Ted was a member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa A.F. & A.M.; Fraternal Lodge #221, where he served as Treasurer; Mohassan Grotto, where he served as a Trustee; Mohassan Grotto Model T Patrol, where he served in many capacities; Mohassan Grotto Bingo Packet Packers, where he served as Treasurer and a member of the Quad City Bass Club. He was also a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Davenport.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting, camping and gardening, especially tomatoes and roses.
Ted is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda; sons, Dan Thompson, Davenport and Tim Thompson and favorite daughter-in-law, Eileen, Blue Grass; granddaughters, Emily, Samantha and Taylor, Blue Grass ; brothers, A.R. (Sharon) Thompson and Kenneth Thompson; sisters, Dorothea Rugland, Carol Jean Cade, and Pat (Fred) Perry; sisters-in-law, Lonnie Thompson and Ginny Greenfield; and special companion, “Brooke”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin infant sons, David and Robert; and brothers, Robert and Tom Thompson.
