

Memorial services for Thomas Smeltzer, 58, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the mortuary. Mr. Smeltzer died on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA.Thomas William Smeltzer was born in Rock Island, IL on December 13, 1951, a son of Alvin and Margaret (Griffin) Smeltzer. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1970-1976. Mr. Smeltzer worked for 35 years as a machinist for the Rock Island Arsenal and for the Defense Ammunition Center in McAlester, OK. He enjoyed fishing, gambling, and most of all enjoyed visiting his family as often as he could.He is survived by his Son: Tyson (Jessica) Smeltzer of Davenport; his Father: Alvin Smeltzer of Davenport; a Sister: Debbie (Brad) Van Blaricom of Eldridge, IA; six Brothers: Chuck (Karen) Smeltzer of Greendale, WI, Joe Smeltzer of Palestine, IL, John (Gloria) Smeltzer of Colona, IL, Larry Smeltzer of Buffalo, IA, Mike (Kathy) Smeltzer of Davenport, Ron (Charlene) Smeltzer of Davenport; two Grandchildren: Kerstin and Kinnick Smeltzer of Davenport; several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, an uncle, and an aunt.Memorials may be directed to the family.
