

Velma I. Spurrier, 88, of Davenport passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Davenport, IA surrounded by her loving family. Services are at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be two hours prior to service. Entombment will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Velma Irene Spurrier was born on January 17, 1928 in Stockton, IA to John and Hazel (Faler) Voss. She married Lowell Spurrier on October 6, 1945 in Kahoka, MO. They were blessed with two children, Candace Ann in 1947 and Terry Alan in 1948. Velma was employed at Eagle Signal Corporation in Davenport, IA for more than thirty years, retiring in 1984. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and Velma loved making various crafts and reading. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with family. Survivors include son, Terry (Jody) Spurrier of Taylor Ridge, IL; grandchildren, Travis (Suk) Spurrier of Macomb, MI, Kimberly (Tom) Kendall of Davenport, IA, Bradley (Tanya) Schutte of Blue Grass, IA and Jeff (Julie) Schutte of Davenport, IA; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Shirley Brink and Marge Brooks; and brother, David Voss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; daughter, Candace; parents; sister, Clara Platt; and brother, Leroy Voss.
