Vera Gertrude Hansen

Vera G. Hansen, 80, of Davenport passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at her home. Visitation will be Sunday, June 2 from 4-7 p.m. at Runge Mortuary with services Monday 10:00am at St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Long Grove Cemetery, Long Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church Volunteers in Mission Fund, Walcott Fire Department, or Long Grove Cemetery.

Vera was born February 11, 1933 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of LeRoy M. and Mabel M. (Hoffman) Flenker. She was united in marriage to Henry E. Hansen, October 14, 1962 at St. John’s United Methodist Church, he passed away October 30, 2007.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards, Rummikub, garage sales and volunteering at the Discovery Shop and Friendly Thrift Store. But her greatest joy was serving God and her family.

Vera was an active member in many organizations through the years including Beta Sigma Phi for 50 plus years, Walnut Grove Questers, Walcott Legion, Cattleman’s which she received the cowbell award, Farm Bureau, German American Heritage, Sunday School, circle, and UMW.

Surviving are her daughter, Lorinda A. Hansen, Bartlett, IL, son, Matthew H. (Cimberly E.) Hansen; 4 grandchildren Gerrit, Joshua, Jordan, and Cassandra; twin sister, Verna J. Cudmore, Davenport; niece, Sue A. (Tom) Chartrand, Wauwatosa, WI, and nephew, Scott A. (Linda) Cudmore, New Berlin, WI.
