Vern E. Miller

Vern E. Miller, 80, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Silver Crest. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting www.rungemortuary.com. Vern was born February 9, 1936 in Big Flats, WI, son of Charles and Leona (Murray) Miller. He served in the Army for 11 years. He was united in marriage to Inge Birling on June 4, 1957 in Augsburg, Germany. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a computer analyst after 25 years. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ for many years. He is survived by one daughter, Susan (Philip) Rusch, Davenport; one son, Vern (Debbie) Miller, Jr., Mansfield TX; four grandchildren, Joe and Sean McKinney, Laura Miller and Amy (Dale) Cole, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Inge; mother; father; stepfather, Paul; two brothers, Al and John; and one sister, Carolyn.The family would like to thank the staff and management at Silver Crest for their care and support.
