Virgil B. Goetz Jr.

Virgil was born October 21, 1949 in Hayes, Kansas to Hilda (Daughty) Goetz and Virgil B. Goetz Sr.. He grew up traveling to various states and countries with his father in the Air Force. When he graduated from school, he followed his father’s footsteps and chose to serve his country by signing up for the United States Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army as a Vietnam Veteran. He then married his high school sweetheart, Mary Esther Duncan.

He then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to enter the Spartan Aircraft School of Aviation. He was baptized in the 11th Street Baptist Church, Tulsa. He then moved to Rosemont, Illinois, where he went to work for The Boyd Company Pipeline. There, he had his son Brian. Then his next move was to the Davenport/Bettendorf area, where his daughter Sharon was born. He went to work for Cordova Nuclear Power Plant until his retirement.

Upon retirement, he got busy with many activities. He mastered watercolor, painting landscapes and architectural art. He also became an active member of the BiStates Sportsman Club. He was an avid clay target shooter.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Duncan Goetz, his children Brian M. Goetz and Sharon Goetz Nakano. His sister Linda Bond of Arizona and Sarah McReynolds, sister in law. And many friends of his gun club and artist guild.
