Virginia Louise Russell

Virginia Louise Russell, 96, of Davenport, after a full life passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Thursday, March 2, 2017 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the serves. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. She was born on June 3, 1920 in Clarksville, MO the daughter of Sidney J. and Ida M. (Dodge) Creech. Virginia was united in marriage to Fred M. Russell on August 2, 1938 in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death on September 25, 1990. Before retiring from Dewey Portland/Martin Marietta, Virginia worked at the Independent Bakery in Davenport for several years.

Virginia will be remembered for her lovable, headstrong character and a strong conviction for her religion. She enjoyed making dolls, sewing, quilting and camping with her husband and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Roger Russell, Davenport, David (Janice) Russell, Blue Grass and Judy Shelton, Davenport; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Virginia was preceded in death by ten siblings, two sons, Clifford and LaVerne and one granddaughter.
