

Funeral services for Vivian Howard, 90, of Davenport, will be 10:30 am on Thursday at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the mortuary. Vivian went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2014, surrounded by her family.Vivian Elnora Sumpter was born on August 23, 1923 in Glasgow, MO, the daughter of Forrest and Bessie (Horton) Sumpter. On December 24, 1942, she married Leslie Howard in Marshall, MO. He preceded her in death in 1985. Vivian worked at the Mulberry Coat Factory, Davenport, Brammer Manufacturing, Davenport, and Clark’s Landing, Buffalo, IA. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.Survivors include her daughters: Eileen (Dennis) Marxen, Charlotte (Gary) Heizer; her sons: Leslie (Ginger) Howard, Jr.,James (Judy) Howard, Ronald Howard, Forrest Howard; brothers: Jerry Sumpter; sister: Lilly Holt; 15 Grandchildren, 30 Great-grandchildren, and 7 Great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Jack Sumpter, James Sumpter, and Virginia Jackson.Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
