Obituary Notification

Vivian E Tinker, 91, of Riverdale, Iowa, died peacefully Thursday, February 28, 2013. Visitation will be held at Runge Mortuary, Thursday, March 7, 2013, 5-7pm. Celebration of Life Services will be held at the Bettendorf Presbyterian Church, Friday, March 8, 2013, 11 am. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Vivian was born in rural Bettendorf, daughter of Thomas Orville and Vivian Ella (Dellitt) Townsend. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1939. She married Edwin B Tinker, August 14, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1987..Ed and Viv were neighbors on Devils Glen Road in Bettendorf when they met and married. They farmed on rural Devils Glen Road and in 1956 sold the farm and moved to Riverdale. They worked hard and played hard. They enjoyed life full of activities with dear friends and family. They traveled extensively, motor homed, square and ballroom danced, played cards, camped, fished, played and taught “life” with the grandkids. In-between the fun times they managed a rental business. Vivian was a lifelong member the Presbyterian Church, the Pleasant Valley Township Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, Hannah Caldwell Chapter NSDAR, Mended Hearts, and recently joined the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. She said about her life that “God just seems to watch out for me.” She believed she was blessed to have a very long, healthy and happy life. Those left to honor her memory are her three daughters: Sandy Tinker, Bettendorf; Pat Bergman, (Steve) Davenport; Edwina Keim, Bettendorf; her brother, Howard Townsend, Davenport; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers. Her daughters would like to express the deepest appreciation to her dear neighbors, family and friends for their love and devotion to Mother.
