Wallace Elmer Sachleben

Wallace “Red” Sachleben, 86, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away at his home on September 8, 2026. Private services for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared through Runge Mortuary.

Wallace was born on May 24, 1940, in Spencer, Iowa. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1958 and married MaryJane Newberry in 1962. Wallace worked in the chemical laboratory at Oxy and retired in 1994 after many years of dedicated service. Together, he and MaryJane raised six wonderful children and built a loving family.

Wallace enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, bowling, playing cards and games, and working on puzzles. He especially cherished the time he spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, MaryJane Sachleben; his children, James (Megumi) Sachleben, Shari (Dennis) Rife, David (Irene) Sachleben, Steven (Vicki) Sachleben, Mark (Heather) Sachleben, and Carol Sachleben; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Wallace will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched, the memories he created, and the family he loved so dearly.
