Walter “Muff” Miller, 58, of Davenport, Iowa, departed this life on July 13, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Christ Apostolic Church, 1201 West 6th Street, Davenport, Iowa. Services will be officiated by Bishop Richard Hayslette and Minister Terry Garrard. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Muff was born on June 16, 1960 in Friars Point, Mississippi to the late Willie Miller and Bennie Jean Miller-Dempsey. At the age of 3 his family moved to Davenport, Iowa where he attended elementary school. At the age of 15 he returned back to Friars Point, Mississippi where he graduated from Aggie Agricultural High School. Following graduation he attended Coahoma Jr. College where he received a welding certificate. In 1982 he moved back to Iowa. He was known to be a jack of all trades. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards (Poker), chess, and spending time with his family. Those left to cherish his memory include his best friend, Pinky; daughters, Rosemary Cole and Jennifer Bickham; son, Paul Howard; brothers, Jeffrey (Melissa) Miller, Willie (Louise) Miller, Cornell Miller, Layman (Nottia Manley) Miller, and Scott Miller; sister, Ledora Miller; close friends, Arthur Scott, Melvin Snerling, Carl Wayne Smith; fourteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Luella Atwater and Lajoyce Miller; and brother, Louis “Beaver” Miller.
