Walter Eugene Stewart

Walter “Nick” Eugene Stewart, 74, of New Liberty, IA, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014 at UnityPoint – Trinity in Bettendorf. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 11:00 am at the National Cemetery in Rock Island. Those wishing to attend his service need to meet at The Runge Mortuary by 10:15 am Thursday.

Nick was born December 24, 1939 in Allerton, IA; the son of Walter Lee and Freda (Cook) Stewart.

He was joined together in April 1987 to Sharon Hutcheson. Nick loved going to medieval renaissance faires. He enjoyed going almost every year to Kenosha, Wisconsin with his traveling companions, Marie and Jim Sterbenz.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sharon; children: Michael (Dora) Stewart, Kentucky; Wanda Gruver, Missouri; Shanda (Tom) Vance, Texas; Crystal (Garon) Billings and Dallas (Tom) McMahon, both of Iowa; six sisters; two brothers; four grandsons; five granddaughters; six great granddaughters; five great grandsons and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Mark Stewart and KennyJo Johnson, two sisters, two brothers and one grandson.
