Davenport, IA Funeral services for Wayne E. Buzzell, age 80, of Davenport and Mountain Home, AR, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 26, at the mortuary. Mr. Buzzell died on Friday, January 23, 2009, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA.Wayne Elwood Buzzell was born on December 24, 1928, the son of Mark and Minnie (Canedy) Buzzell in Tracy, MN. He married Wilma Mae Wells on January 1, 1949 in Tracy. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2000. Mr. Buzzell served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Following his military obligations, he worked as an independent truck driver, owning and operating Wayne Transfer Company for over 25 years. His memberships include the American Legion, First United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge #1714, and the Quad City In-Fisherman. His favorite pastime was spending time fishing on the river or lake and playing cards. Survivors include – 4 Daughters: Roxanne (Bill) Lipes of Davenport, Melanie (Dennis) Menken of Des Moines, IA, Sue Ellen Buzzell of Davenport, and Wendy (Brian) Matis of Austin, TX; a Son: John M. Buzzell of Davenport; 2 brothers: Lee (Eileen) Buzzell of Bettendorf and Donald (Pat) Buzzell of St. Cloud, MN; 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a Daughter: Paulette Patch; 3 Brothers and 6 Sisters. Memorials may be made to Quad City In-Fisherman.
