

Wayne Delmar Sinksen, 85, of Davenport went to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, February 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Runge Mortuary. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com
Wayne was born January 24, 1928 in Dixon, IA; the son of Henry and Ellen (Lange) Sinksen. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1945 and then served in the US Navy. Wayne married Betty Lee Dyrland in 1947. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
For twelve years Wayne owned and operated Wayne’s Market on Brady Street. After that he was manager of several Eagle Stores in Wisconsin. He was also head salesman for Crescent Baking Company and Continental Steel Alloy Corporation. At 62, Wayne retired and traveled with his wife Betty throughout most of the United States and also to Canada. Wayne was an avid golfer, reader, fisherman and a spirited lifetime Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his loving wife, Betty Lee Sinksen, Davenport; daughter, Joan (Gary) Cook, Monroe, WA; sons: Robert (Jane) Sinksen, Henderson, NV; Stephen Sinksen, Davenport; daughter, Gloria (Jeff) Wilson, Davenport; eight grandchildren: Charisse (Tim) Jones, Kiley Gemmer, Katie (Mike) Brown, Danny (Kelli) Sinksen, Alyssa (Rick) August, Adrian English, Katrina English and Mitchel English; great grandchildren: Savannah, Landon, Gabriel, Evelyn and Isaac; brother-in-law, Ted Haas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Bobby; sister, Marvella Haas; and baby sister, Neoma.
