William Earl Bequeaith

May 29, 1937January 9, 2021

William “Bill” Bequeaith, 83, of Davenport, Iowa; passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the University of Iowa Hospital. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 5-7pm; please observe all social distancing guidelines for COVID 19. A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 with burial at Davenport Memorial Park.

Bill was born on May 29, 1937 to Wilber and Lillian Bequeaith in Oskaloosa, Iowa. On September 26, 1975 he was united in marriage to Yorona Hedrick. He owned and was a mechanic at Davenport Brake Services with his dad and brother, Richard until he retired. After retirement he worked at Titan Wheel and then Midwest Wheel delivering parts. Bill was an active outdoors man; he enjoyed going hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. Daily he was out taking care of his yard and flowers. When the weather wouldn’t allow for yard work, he would go walk at the mall. It was common for Bill to stop and tell jokes to anyone that would listen. Bill was a regular at Hardees’, going every morning for his sausage, egg, and biscuit sandwich. Bill was very involved in his grandson's sporting activities and was know as "Buddy" to all the members of the Wildcat family. He very rarely missed a game and was always Morgan's biggest fan.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 45 years, Yorona; children Tiffany Bequeaith and Shaun (Diane) Bequeaith; grandson Morgan, Blake, and Carter; siblings Richard Bequeaith and Donna Hall; and nieces and nephews: Penny Hale, Dennis Bequeaith, Mark Bequeaith, Jeff Bequeaith, and Rick Bequeaith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Wilber (Gene). Online condolences can be made to the family by visiting his obituary at

Bill was a good friend and mentor to me when I was in high school. We went skating and to movies together. I cherish the memories of our fishing trip to Canada in 1966 with Wilbur and all of the boys.
Best regards to all of the family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I so enjoyed chatting with Mr. Bequeath at Barnes & Noble when he would come in to buy his Wall Street Journal. He was always very kind to me and I was always happy to see him. I'll miss his happy face!

I have known Bill and his family since I was a little girl. They lived down the street from me. My sister and Tiffany would play together. They were always so kind and loving towards my family. And my biggest and cherished memory was seeing Bill outside tending to his beautiful yard often. Always very diligent about keeping it nice. He always has a mower or a clipper😊. I lost touch after I moved away for college but this is has been a family that has left in imprint in my heart forever. I am so incredibly thankful to have met them and very sorry for your loss. Bill will truly be missed. Sending love and hugs to his surviving family!!!!

Bill came to my rescue about 10 yrs ago as Tiffany’s math partner, that he had never met — but surely heard lots about, when I needed help getting to school after a flat tire left me stranded off the NE Blvd exit! Hugs and comforting prayers to my ole Sudlow Bequeaith family.
