

Memorial services for William E. “Bill” Timmerman, 60, of Davenport, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Berean Baptist Church in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. As per his wish, cremation rites have been accorded. Mr. Timmerman died on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.William Eugene Timmerman was born on January 23, 1952 in Burlington, IA, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Shivers) Timmerman. On January 31, 1970 he married his high school sweetheart, Roxanne L. Gedye in Davenport. Mr. Timmerman worked many years at the former Chrome Locomotive Company in Silvis, IL, rebuilding and stripping locomotive engines prior to his retirement due to failing health.Bill was an avid model railroader and also enjoyed building model cars. He loved to tinker, do woodworking, and was a handyman for everyone. Many weekends were spent at car shows with his Mustang or enjoying NASCAR races and watching the Cardinals. Most especially, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was so very grateful to his grandchildren for their help and time shared during his declining health.Surviving members of the family include – his Wife: Roxanne of Davenport; a Daughter: Heather (Eric) Roberts of Davenport; a Son: Adam (Amber) Timmerman of Davenport; 2 Sisters: Teresa Swiney and Becky (Gene) Edwards; 2 Brothers: Bruce (Debbie) Timmerman and Mark (Mary) Timmerman; 5 Grandchildren: Kayla, Chelsea (Corey), Amanda, Brandon, Hunter; 1 Great-grandson: William; 2 Special Friends: Mickey McCall and Jack Schwartz; and several nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to the family.
