William H Goodworth SR.

William H. “Bill” Goodworth, Sr., 84 of Cape Coral, FL passed away at the Genesis Medical Center, West Campus Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Funeral service will be held Saturday at 11:30 AM, June 19,2010 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the mortuary. William was born June 21, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA the son of Harvey and Annie (Smith) Goodworth. He was united in marriage to Betty M. Nichols July 7, 1948 in Pittsburgh, PA.

Bill proudly served in the United States Army. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Design. He began his career at the Arrow Safety Device Corporation in New Jersey, later working at Aerojet General Corporation, California and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal.

Bill was a devout Christian. Religion was in every part of his life. He was a very detail orientated man, and politically active. Bill loved the water, he excelled in water skiing and was proud to still be skiing at the age of 80 .He also enjoyed time spent boating on the Mississippi River and Florida. He cherished all the time spent with his grandchildren.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 62 years, Betty, son and daughter-in-law, William H. (Kate) Goodworth, Jr.; grandchildren, Kelly, Molly, Sarah, Aaron, Joe and Cole; great grandchildren, Rory, Isabel, Addison, Wade, Stella, and Kaylee; 1 niece and 2 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cheryl and brother, Roy
