A Masonic Service will be Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 2 pm followed by a memorial service, at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 to 2 pm at the mortuary. His final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may go to the family for his great grandchildren’s education. Online condolences may be left at rungemortuary.com.
Bill was born December 27, 1941 in Davenport, the son of Leo and Lorraine (Van Dohlen) Kranz. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1959. He went on to serve in the Army in Korea and during the Vietnam War. He married Karen Everett on May 26, 1962 in Davenport.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Fraternal Order 222 and was a Past Monarch of the Mohassan Grotto. He worked as an Inspector for Ralston Purina for 38 years before retiring in 1998. In his free time, he loved to fish, coach Little League in earlier years and give rides on his lawn tractor to his grandchildren.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 60 years, Karen, children: Shelley Kranz, William (Tracie) Kranz, Jr., and James Kranz, all of Davenport; grandchildren: Jeremy (Christina) Crocker, Amanda Crocker, Abigayle (Joe) LaFrenz and William Kranz, III; great grandchildren, Oliver Crocker and Ford LaFrenz; brothers, Frederick (Paige) Kranz, Alabama and Leo (Nancy) Kranz, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents and a sister, Wanda Winnen preceded him in death.
