

William “Bill” Curtis Monson, 69, of Davenport, IA passed away at his home on January 1, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born on March 22, 1956 to Alfred Monson and Capitola (Tallcott) Monson. He was raised on the family farm in Hamlet and graduated from Aledo High School in 1974.
He married Robin Weist on February 25, 2006. Bill was a lifelong Cubs fan and played Church league softball as a young man. He enjoyed watching baseball, football, basketball and any sports his children and grandchildren were playing. To know Bill was to love him. He was a hard worker and never hesitated to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. He devoted many years of his life to farming and later completed with pride, his career at Corteva in Durant, IA. He set a good example for others and was a man of tremendous faith. Bill also enjoyed playing euchre and making homemade ice cream. His favorite holiday was Father's Day when all of his children were together.
Bill is survived by his wife, Robin; sons, Jason (Cathleen) Monson of Reynolds, IL; William (Christina) Monson and Ryan (Annie) Monson both of Aledo; daughters, Renee (Cory) Funk of Iowa City, IA and Megan Monson of Grand Rapids, MI; step-daughter, Lindsay Weist of Davenport, IA; daughter-in-law Jessica Weist of Viola, IL; 17 grandchildren; brother, Larry Monson of NV; sisters, Anna (Bob) Garrett of FL. and Lona (Lew) Webb of NV and fur child, Charles Levi “aka not his dog” Monson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Melvin Monson and stepson, Nicholas Weist.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Weerts Funeral Home. A memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday January 9, 2026 at Grace Family Church, located at 6317 W. River Drive, Davenport.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to the family.
