

William Rasing, 68, of Davenport, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 in Davenport. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 12:00 pm in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities. Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com. William was born March 22, 1948 in New Hampton, IA, son of Anna Marie Fischbach Rasing and Edwin Rasing. He graduated from the New Hampton High School and served in the Army from 1966 to 1969. He later served in the Army Reserves and retired after 22 years. Bill graduated from Mankato State College in 1971 and married Micki (Margaret) Brayton in 1971. He then worked for the Internal Revenue Service as an agent until he opened an accounting firm in 1981. He worked until death, and his son, Robert, and wife, Micki, continue to operate the firm. Bill loved helping people solve IRS problems, advising them on their business, and talking to people. His favorite vacations were cruising and relaxing at home. Bill volunteered with Boy Scout Troup #670, the Quad City Montessori School and Marquette Academy until it closed. He was a lifetime member of the Durant American Legion but was not active with them. Bill is survived by his wife, Micki, three children: Kate, (Laion Neves); Bob; and Carri. He is also survived by two brothers, Tom (Alice) and Wayne (Margie) and two sisters, Jan Herfindal (Orlin Herfindal) and May Rasing. His parents and a sister, Jolene Rasing preceded him in death. The family also thanks people and prayer groups who have been praying for him over the past three years. The family also appreciates the care he received from Dr. Susannah Friemel, nurses with the Genesis Cancer Care and Dr. Jason Davis.
