

Graveside services for William J. Waller, 66, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Those wishing to attend services should meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. Mr. Waller passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.William Joseph Waller was born in Davenport, IA on November 23, 1944, the son of James and Marie (Buttgen) Waller. He was a graduate of Davenport High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy. On May 29, 1973 he was awarded the Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry. Throughout his military career of almost 20 years, Mr. Waller was employed as an ordinance mechanic for the United States Navy. He enjoyed playing poker and Pac-Man, and loved gardening, dogs, and Betty Boop.He is survived by two Daughters: Marie and Tanna; three Sisters: Sandra Wouters of Davenport, Georgia Utter of Horsehead, NY, and Annie Lujan of Davenport; a Brother: Rocky Waller of Davenport; and his very Special Friends: David and Margaret Yeater of Davenport.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three Sisters and two Brothers: Florence, JoAnn, Elizabeth, Vernon, and John. Memorials may be directed to the family.
