

Zhen Cai Yang, 95, of Davenport, IA, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the Genesis Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. A Buddhist funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Runge Mortuary and Crematory from 9-11 am, followed by visitation from 11-12 pm. Friends and family are warmly invited to attend the service, visitation, or both to honor her beautiful life. Following visitation, Zhen will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, You Pei Huang, at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared at www.rungemortuary.com. Born on February 26, 1930, in China, Zhen lived a life full of love and purpose. In 1950, she married You Pei Huang, and together they raised eight children, building a family grounded in hard work and kindness. Zhen believed deeply in education and integrity, values she passed down to her children. She showed her love through her cooking, turning simple ingredients into dishes that brought everyone together. Each meal was a gift, a way to share her warmth and care with those around her.
Zhen was the heart of her family—a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose gentle smile and generous spirit touched everyone she met. Her home was a haven of love, filled with laughter and the comfort of shared meals. Her legacy is one of selflessness and connection, a light that will continue to shine in the lives of those she loved.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Lien) Hoang, Loc Hoang, Phu/Robert (May) Hoang, Simei (Delong Zheng) Huang, Lian (Davy Mooc) Huang, Ying (Lam Quan) Huang, and Feng (Mark) Walkup; her grandchildren, Lucy (Mark) Singer, Katie Hoang, Cuong (Lee) Hoang, Tom Hoang, Jemmie (James Wachutka) Hoang, Tony Hoang, Lily (Nick Larson) Hoang, Henry (Amy) Hoang, Shirley Hoang, Eric (Helyn Hu) Hoang, Xingfeng (Dejun Huang) Zheng, Xinglan Zheng, ChunXia (YouCai Feng) Huang, FuWen Huang, Nicole (José DeAlba) Mooc, Wayne Mooc, Fong (DengYang Li) Quan, Macy Quan, Sammy Quan, Whitney Walkup, Winston Walkup; 17 great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, QiuYan Li.
Zhen was preceded in death by her husband, You Pei Huang; her son, YongGui Huang; and daughter-in-law, CamVan Hoang.
Zhen Cai Yang’s life was a gift—simple, sincere, and full of love. She will be deeply missed, but her warmth and wisdom will live on in her family and all who knew her.
