Cameron, a Harrington, WA Resident, was born in Spokane to Andy and Elva Kaputa on May 26th,1954. He passed away on February 21st, 2026. He is survived by his sister Kay and his brother John’s kids, Megan and Rob Kaputa, along with Megan’s 2 kids, Daymon and Marley. After Graduating from Harrington High School in 1972, he went to motorcycle mechanics school and spent 4 years in the Army as a nurse, stationed in Germany. After that, he spent nearly 20 devoted years as a nurse at Lakeland Village, where some of the patients actually injured him and permanently damaged his shoulder, which plagued him for life.
Cam loved NASCAR, motorcycles, guns and 4X4omg. He liked BMW motorcycles and replaced the flywheel on one with an aluminum one for racing, and raced for a while in the Old Guys class until he had a booboo and damaged his knee. He was a gifted amateur gun smith, a talented mechanic, and adventurous. He loved exploring the mountains and scabland in his Jeep and loved testing the capabilities of the Jeep with a friend, busting snowdrifts till they got stuck and sometimes spent hours digging the jeep out of drifts (the good ol’ days). He did some backpacking in his 20’s, with one grueling 30 mile round-trip hike to Lake Klonaqua in the Cascades. Upon retiring he spent summers at Wiliams Lake at his sister Kay’s place where he did maintenance and carpentry work, and would help friends with harvest. He loved going to hunting camp for the camaraderie and time with Mother Nature.
Megan and friends remember him as being a great cook with a knack for BBQ and mastering Gran Turismo. Cam will be remembered as kind, humble, intelligent, forgiving, trustworthy, honest, inquisitive, patient, loyal, considerate, reflective, and spiritual. A no-host memorial gathering will take place at the Harrington Haus in Harrington on March 21st between 12:30 and 2:00pm.
