Dennis Clark Hutchens passed away on March 26, 2019 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Dennis was born in Spokane, WA on January 28, 1949 and was the third of four boys raised in Davenport, WA. He attended Elementary and High School in Davenport graduating in 1967. Soon after graduation he joined the US Army and after training at Fort Hood, TX was sent to Thailand as a Military Policeman. Following the end of the Vietnam War and discharge from the Army Dennis joined the Defense Department providing security for operations in Alice Springs, Australia as well as for the SR-7 Blackbird wherever it was on display. Upon completing that assignment he again joined the Army and was stationed in Germany.
He joined PSA Airlines where he worked as a Ground Operations Agent in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Manchester, NH. Throughout these years Dennis became associated with the Big Brothers and provided one-on-one mentoring to a young boy for many years even up to the young man’s wedding After 20 years with the airlines Dennis came to Woodinville, WA to live with his brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Glenna Hutchens. He moved with them to GA, TX, and TN where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents Barney and LaVern Hutchens and his brother Richard Hutchens. He is survived by two brothers Morlan Hutchens of Davenport, WA and Chuck and spouse Glenna Hutchens in Loudon, TN as well as two nephews, a niece and several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and great grand-nephews. He will be laid to rest in the family plot at Mountain View Cemetery on April 25, 2019. A private graveside service will be arranged through Strate Funeral Home, and conducted by Fr. Bill Floch.
