I did not know DeVaughn, but have wanted to contact the McCrea family for some time now. When I lived in Republic in the early 60’s my dad had a very good friend named Denny McCrea there. I am not sure if it was the same spelling.

Anyway, Denny let me come on the reservation and pick out a horse to have. I did not have it very long because my dad was hurt in the Knob Hill mine and we had to move to Yakima. I was in the 4th grade when we moved. I had named the horse Peppy.

I have always wanted to thank Denny or relatives for that special gift. I loved horses so much and that was such a special thing to do.

I am so sorry your family has lost a loved one. Rest In Peace DeVaughn.
