Dolores Graedel went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Sunday April 28, 2019. Dolores was born on August 21, 1928 in Garber Oklahoma to Fredrick and Rose (Baker) Heckel. She worked for Pleasant Valley School District and Oxnard Union Highschool District for many years before going back to school to get her Real Estate License in Camarillo California. She moved to Odessa Washington in 1982.
Dolores was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and served as president of the Christ Lutheran Church Women’s group for many years. She was active in the quilting group and the Christ Lutheran Church Council. She enjoyed playing pinochle and bunco with her friends.
Dolores and her husband I.W “Bill’ Graedel farmed west of Odessa for many years before moving into town. She loved gardening and caring for her family and pets. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband I.W. “Bill” Graedel, her husband earlier in life Hugh B. Smith, step daughter Cynthia Graedel and brother Gene Heckel. She is survived by her sister- in-law Patricia Heckel and children, DeDe G. Cregut daughter, H. Breck Smith son, and Deanna L. Nelson daughter. Grand children Amanda (Jesse ) Poupis, Blake and Brandon Smith, Katheryne (Michael) Ordway and Nicholas Nelson. Great-grandchildren Cole and Layla Poupis and Tyler and Brooklyn Ordway and step children Donald (Debbie) Graedel, Debbie (Rick) Valencia and Richard (Pam) Graedel, step grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Christ Lutheran Church 602 E Amende Drive in Odessa Washington, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Christ Lutheran Church or Shriners Hospital.
