Elsie Margaret (Bergau) Angstrom passed away at Coulee Medical Center on January 25, 2022 at the age of 96. She was born on January 10, 1926 in Wilbur, Washington. Elsie graduated from Wilbur High School in 1945 and worked at Pacific N.W. Bell after graduation. She met her future husband Boyd Angstrom, a World War II Veteran from Creston and married on May 6, 1945. They lived in the Wilbur/Creston area on the Angstrom family wheat ranch where they farmed for over 30 years. Upon retirement they moved into Wilbur. Elsie was a homemaker and a Girl Scout leader for over 10 years. Elsie was a great cook, painted and enjoyed ceramics along with many other crafts. She and her husband were very involved with the past local Veteran’s of Foreign Wars. They were Wilbur’s Grand Marshalls on May 17, 1986 because of their participation in the community.
Elsie is preceded in death by her husband Boyd, her sisters, Helen Proctor, Betty Jessup, infant brother, her father Kurt and mother Gertrude Bergau. She is survived by her son Roger Angstrom of Wilbur, daughter Sara Wilcox of Whidbey Island, Washington, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Coulee Medical for making Elsie’s last 5 years friendly and comfortable. She painted every day and they will miss her daily greeting to each aid: “Hi Honey” and a big smile.
Graveside services honoring Elsie’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Wilbur Cemetery followed with a Coffee and Dessert hour at the Wilbur Lutheran Church.
