Gloria Gay Wraspir

Gloria G. (Grosso) Wraspir, 83 years old and a longtime resident of Irby, WA passed away on December 16, 2015 in Spokane, WA from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.

Gloria was born September 27, 1932 in Omak, WA to Julius (Jack) and Gladys (Grace) (Beeman) Grosso. She was raised and graduated from Grand Coulee High School during the building of the Grand Coulee Dam. She was the Salutatorian of her Class of 1950. Her parents owned and operated the Maytag store in Grand Coulee until 1975 when her dad passed away.

Mom worked at Odessa School District as an Aide for 32 years in the HOST program. During that time she also drove school bus in the morning before school and in the afternoon after school. Over the years she was involved with the church as a Sunday School teacher, on the Board of Directors, a Trustee and Fi-We. She also had a big yard, rose and vegetable garden that she kept up while raising five children. Mom loved to sew and used to sew all of her clothes and the girls’ clothes before she went to work full time. She also liked to watch or listen to the WSU Cougar football games.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Grace Grosso, her husband of 55 years Eugene (Gene) Wraspir (2006), her sister, Beverly Auker (2014), nephew, Larry Auker (1975), her half–sister and brother-in-law Betty and Ray Bender, and brother-in-laws, Alfred Wraspir and Bud Haase.

She is survived by her five children, Claudia (Larry) Iverson, Penny (Jim) Wohrle, Denice Wraspir, Scott (Lisa) Wraspir and Sherrie Wraspir, two brothers, David (Patricia) Grosso of Winchester, VA and Robert (Becky) Grosso of Yakima, WA. Grandchildren, Todd (Vickie) Iverson, Alex Wraspir, Danika Wraspir, Kristin (Jon) Vanos and James Wohrle. Great grandchildren, Alyssa Iverson, Austin Iverson, Rylee and Max Vanos and numerous nieces and nephews. Sister-in-laws, Joyce (Wraspir) Haase and JoEllen Wraspir.

A service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be at 2:00 p.m on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Heritage Church in Odessa, WA with Pastor Jon Hayashi, officiating.
