

Claire graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma and went on to the University of Puget Sound where she graduated with a teaching degree. Her first teaching job was in Almira where she met and married David McKay. They raised seven children in Almira. After David’s death in 1995, Claire met and married William Miller.
Claire was an active member of the Almira Community Church and Eastern Star. She loved quilting with the Almira quilters. She valued her many friendships over the years in Almira.
Claire is survived by her seven children: Colleen (and Mark) Wells, Celia (and Jim) Hatch, Connie McKay, Brad (and Karen) McKay, Julie (and Scott) McIntosh, Andy (and Linda) McKay, Stuart (and Sheri) McKay; 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and two brothers, Charles McNeill and Dale McNeill. She was preceded in death by her husbands, David McKay and William Miller, and her sister, Doreen Schneider.
A burial service will be held at LaFollette Cemetery at 10:00 am, Thursday, October 15, followed by the celebration of life memorial church service at the Almira Community Church at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.
