Iris Marie (Timm) Adams (92) was born on May 7th, 1924 to Albert Timm and Josephine (Roach) Timm and passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2017 as the result of a stroke on December 21st, 2016. She is survived by her two children, Mary Lou and John, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She spent most of her life in Harrington and liked to talk about how her dad would hook the sleigh to a horse, wrap her in blankets and wish her off over the wheat fields to catch the school bus. She liked talking about the good ol’ days and lost her beloved Dad too early in life. In high school she played tennis and was a cheerleader and met the love of her life, Bob. Unique to the times, she and Bob were recorded on 8mm black and white videos that Jack Adams took while they were dating. Priceless! While waiting for Bob to return from WWII, she attended Fort Wright College and earned a teaching degree which she applied many years later at Harrington Elementary School. She and Bob were married on June 14th, 1945 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Harrington and lived in Spokane. They adopted Mary Lou in 1952 and John in 1954. In 1964, they moved back to Harrington where she spent her remaining years. She treasured the 65 years of matrimonial bliss with the love of her life Bob. Her children remember she and Bob as never having an argument of any sort. Marie was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, and Catholic who attended Sunday and daily mass, prayed the rosary daily and was a member of the Altar Society. She enjoyed her trips with Bob to Hawaii, Mexico, Florida, the Oregon and Washington coast, Glacier and Yellowstone Park and Canada as well as the time spent at the cabin. She liked bowling with the girls, golfing with Bob and after Bob’s passing, she never missed senior meals with her buddies. Despite her deafness, she managed to keep her relationships alive by learning to text, email, and use a tty phone. Marie was neat as a pin and very organized and routine. She was a simple lady with simple needs that focused on her family and God. She was frugal and practical and had a soft spot in her heart for the needy. She is remembered for her delicious harvest meals, lovely holiday dinners, her ability to forgive the transgressions of others and concern for her family and friends. She is and will continue to be missed, but her family has solace in knowing that she prepared herself her entire life for the inevitable and that she has attained perpetual peace. Rosary services will be Thursday, February 16th, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. with funeral services on Friday, February 17th, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Harrington, Washington. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to a charitable organization. Please visit the online guestbook at www.stratefuneralhome.com. Strate Funeral Home of Davenport, Washington is caring for the family.
