One of the Lord’s most faithful and hardworking sons went home to Heaven on October 26, 2026. Joseph John “John” Rosman died peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was 89. Born on August 9, 1937, in Spokane, WA, to Joseph and Agnes (Frankovich) Rosman, John was the fifth of six children. Raised on the family farm south of Creston, he developed a lifelong love of farming, a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for making the most of what he had.
John met the love of his life, Carolyn Houston, at a winter Grange dance. They married on June 8, 1961, shortly before he was drafted into the military during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He served as a medical clerk at Fort Chaffee, Ark. After serving in the Army, the two settled on the Rosman family farm south of Creston. They lived together on the farm for nearly 60 years and raised five children.
John’s faith, family and farm were the foundation of his life. Together, he and Carolyn weathered the challenges of farming and ranching and supported all five children in earning college degrees from Washington State University. He welcomed his children’s spouses as his own and found tremendous joy in his nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. “I love you” and “we are blessed” were words spoken often in his home. John never complained and always worked by the sweat of his brow.
A devoted Catholic, John lived with integrity, prayed daily and thanked God for his blessings. His quick wit, mischievous spirit, and easy conversation skills brought laughter and friendship wherever he went. Family gatherings were filled with baseball, pinochle, and board games.
In his final years, John leaned on the love and support of his family and the compassionate care teams at South Hill Village, Devonshire at Touchmark, and Cheney Care Center.
John will be remembered as an exceptional farmer, a faithful husband, a loving father and grandfather, and a man whose humor and kindness impacted every life around him. John is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife and best friend, Carolyn. He is survived by his children Jonnelle (Mark) Pierce, Randy (Scott) Rosman, Joe (Mary) Rosman, Jeff (Katie) Rosman, and Kara (Ryan) Rowe; his grandchildren Austan Pierce, Kendra (Mike) Henry, JD (Bree) Rosman, Joey (Karen) Rosman, Cristy (Taylor) Gamble, Brent (Ashley) Rosman, Doug Rosman, Matt Rosman, and Kali Rowe; his great grandchildren Skylar Henry, Jasper Gamble, and Rhys Rosman; and his sister Edith Rustemeyer.
John’s funeral service will be held Thursday, November 5, 2026 at 10am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wilbur, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer's Association, Wilbur Sacred Heart Catholic Church, or Wilbur Cemetery Association.
