Randall "Randy" Richard Krause

May 17, 1946 – July 30, 2026

Randy Krause passed away peacefully July 29, 2026, in hospice care at the Mann-Grandstaff Veterans Hospital Community Care Center in Spokane. He was not expected to live more than a few days after his admission to Hospice in April. But with excellent care from the VA Hospice staff and his strong independent spirit, he bounced back to beat the odds until late July.

Randy was born in Spokane and raised on the family farm near Wilbur. He graduated from Wilbur High School in 1965 and graduated from the Automotive Mechanic program at Spokane Community College in 1967. Shortly after He volunteered for U.S. Army service. He was sent to Ft. Stewart GA and trained in aircraft engine maintenance. After training, he was sent to Vietnam where he served with the 242 Assault Helicopter Company at Chu Chi Vietnam. At the conclusion of his year in Vietnam, he completed the remainder of his enlistment at Ft. Stewart and was discharged in December 1970. His Vietnam experience was never far from his mind, even after 60 years.

He joined his Father on the Family Farm finally retiring in 2021. Randy was an active member of the Wilbur VFW Post, a past Commander and enjoyed attending State VFW Conventions.

Randy obtained his private pilot’s license and loved to fly around sight-seeing eastern WA. Many of his best memories of the flying experience was doing Parts runs for local business needing parts from distant suppliers. Word has it that he ran out of gas once, and eventually retired his license with no known damages.

Randy enjoyed hunting and fishing, model airplane building, road trips, his gun hobby and mostly just hanging out at Keller Ferry and visiting with his many friends. He had a great, infectious laugh that filled a room when he was around.

In his later years he suffered through a long list of medical issues, but no matter what, he did not let these issues over come his genuine goodwill, humor and friendships for others.

Randy is survived by his two Grandchildren, Owen and Evyn Krause, Daughter in Law Tami Krause, and his brother and sister-in-law Garith and Oretta Krause and numerous cousins from the Krause and Hinthorn families. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Violet Krause, and his son Larry Krause.
