Sharon Lynn Olson

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Sharon Lynn Olson, age 72, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that she is now whole, at peace, and forever in the loving arms of her Savior.

Sharon is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Brandon (Sarah) and Ben (Bekah); her brothers, Duane Yecha (Suzy) of Prineville, Oregon, and Mark Yecha (Darlene) of Colville, Washington; and her beloved grandchildren (Emalynn, Reeve, Everly, and Nolan), who brought immeasurable joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Stanley Yecha; her mother, Helen Yecha; her brother, Philip Yecha; and her loving husband, Dennis.

Born on June 14, 1954, in Big Timber, Montana, Sharon grew up with a strong work ethic and a joyful spirit. As a young girl, Sharon loved playing school, and could often be found driving tractors and trucks on the family farm long before she was old enough to drive on the road. Those early experiences behind the wheel gave her confidence and independence, and they made her especially proud of her beloved 1970 Chevy Malibu.

Sharon graduated from Pullman High School in 1973 before attending Northwest College and later Washington State University, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education in 1977. She faithfully devoted 33 years to serving students and families in the Central Valley School District. Even after retiring from full-time teaching, Sharon continued to serve as a substitute teacher.

In 1980, Sharon married the love of her life, Dennis. Their story began in the classroom, where Dennis served as Sharon's master teacher during her student teaching. After months of mentoring, he finally "passed the test," and Sharon said yes to becoming his bride. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with their two sons.

More than anything, Sharon loved Jesus. Sharon loved worshiping through music, playing both the piano and organ, singing in church choirs, and serving at Valley Assembly with the children's ministries, quilting group, and alongside Dennis teaching Financial Peace classes, helping others become wise stewards of God's blessings.

Of all the roles Sharon cherished, being "Grandma" or “Maga” was among her greatest joys. Her four grandchildren filled her heart with delight, and she treasured every opportunity to love, encourage, and pray for them.

Sharon's legacy is one of unwavering faith, faithful service, compassion, and quiet strength. She leaves behind countless family members, friends, students, and fellow believers whose lives were enriched by her kindness, generosity, and steadfast trust in Christ.

While her earthly journey has ended, her family finds comfort in the promise of Scripture: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

A memorial service celebrating Sharon's life and the hope she had in Christ will be held on August 14, at 4:00 p.m. at Valley Assembly - 15618 E Broadway Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99037
