

Verneta Marie Carstens, a 64 year resident of Reardan, WA passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at 84 years old. She was born on September 14, 1941, to Vernon and Eleanor Harris. She was raised in Chelan and graduated from Chelan High School in 1959. Verneta moved to Spokane and worked at the Seattle First Bank. While attending Central Methodist Church, she met Clifford Carstens and they were married in May of 1962. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They lived and farmed north of Reardan for over 50 years.
Verneta's greatest joys were raising her two daughters on the Carstens family farm, working the fields, and spending time with her grandkids, great grandkids, extended family, and many friends. She had a wonderful relationship with her Heavenly Father, was active in church, and loved working with children in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Good News Club, and AWANA. She enjoyed doing in-home care work for 15 years.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford Carstens; 2 children, Tiffany Carstens and Teresa (Bill) Phillips; 9 grandchildren, Robert Abell, Clifford Abell, Heidi (Ben) Miller, Andrew Abell, Emily (Andrew), Joseph Abell, Dustin (Anna) Loop, Caleb (Makenna) Phillips, and Titus Phillips; 11 great grandchildren; and sister, Jeanne (Howard) Thiemens. She was preceded in death by her sister Karen Edelen, brother Richard Harris, and granddaughter Tabitha Abell.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, at the Reardan Presbyterian Church at 2:00. A private graveside committal will be held prior to the memorial at the Reardan Cemetery.
