MONK, WILSON E. “Bill” –

Passed away July 25, 2019 in Spokane, WA. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Spokane, WA to Gene and Dorothy Monk. He graduated Edwall High School. After high school he attended a semester of college at Eastern Washington University and had decided he wanted to see the world, so he joined the US Navy. He was an Engineman and served at Kodiak Alaska and Bremerton Washington. After the Navy, He attended Spokane Community College where he received his AA degree. He married Marilyn MacPherson and they made their home in the Edwall area. Wilson was a wheat farmer, a member of the Edwall Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed bowling, NASCAR, Seattle Mariners, and Gonzaga basketball. He is survived by his wife Marilyn at the home, three children Wilson Monk, Jessie Workman and Kristy Randall and seven grandchildren. He has two sisters Bonnie Warren and Susan Sloan and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Dorothy and a sister Sandy. Celebration of life Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Strate Funeral Home, 505 10th St., Davenport, WA. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the WA State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, WA. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.stratefuneralhome.com for the Monk family. So many fond memories of Uncle Bill, who used to "Baby sit" us and actually sit on us. He was always cheerful and had a joke to tell and a smile for everyone. So sorry for his passing.
