Carl was born in Decatur, Illinois to Albert Richard Brett and Helen Gladys Beard on November 15, 1933. He went to school in Mango, Florida. He and Mary Louise Boyden wed on May 29, 1954 in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from Florida State University and spent his career in commercial real estate banking. He was a veteran of the Army.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Boyden Brett, his father, Richard Albert Brett, his mother, Helen Gladys Beard, and brother, Paul Beard Brett.
Carl is survived by his daughters Elizabeth Kushner (Les) and Carole Zimmerman (Peter), 6 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery in Tallahassee, Florida. Arrangements are by Fred Hunter.
In lieu of flowers contributions, may be made to the Carl Brett and Dorothy Kushner Film Fund at Florida State University, a scholarship for students in the FSU College of Motion Picture Arts.
