Gloria Anita Smith was born in Colon, Republic of Panamá, on January 3, 1937 to Gwenra Jackson and Cecil Burgess. Together they had three children, Gloria, Alfred, and Bill Alexander Grossett. Gloria was raised by Samuel (Papa Brown) and Mary Brown. Two people whom she has always cherished. Both of Gloria’s brothers have passed away leaving behind their older sister, Gloria until she was called home on Monday, April 27, 2026. Their love and concern for each other kept them close throughout their lives.
In 1955, Gloria met José Smith, the love of her life. They were married for 65 wonderful years until José was called home on October 19, 2024. Their children Ana, José Jr., Roxana Maria, Victor, and Inés deeply mourn the loss of their loving mother for which life will never be the same without her in it to guide them through life’s challenges.
Gloria was a devoted wife, loving mother, and friend to all. She leaves behind her son-in-law’s Ricardo, and Spencer, daughter-in-law Tanya; ten grandchildren José III (Lil Reno), Eric, Blake (twin brother Brandon proceeded Gloria in death), Stephanie, Dione, Katheena, Gabrielle, Earthsheyin, Jasmin, Tyrel and nine great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Nia, Elle, Sedrick, Ariyah, Zoe, Jaime, Wynter, and Montie. A host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends also mourn her passing. It is our prayer that our Heavenly Father receive Gloria in His loving arms of mercy and grant her eternal and everlasting peace. Amen.
