James Ross, 81, of Plantation, Florida passed away on October 7, 2026 at Covenant Village Care Center. Jim was born on March 24, 1945 in Wadena, Minnesota to William Thompson Ross and Ethel Rachel Lien Ross.
Jim married Judy Hine on June 22, 1968 at Waterloo, Indiana. In 58 years of marriage they lived in Richmond, Indiana; Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Lombard, Illinois; New Brighton, Minnesota; Richton Park, Illinois; North Miami Beach, Florida; Miramar, Florida; Pembroke Pines, Florida; and lastly Plantation, Florida.
Jim was a graduate of Stanford High School in Stanford, Kentucky and Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky. His career as an accountant began in 1968 with Montgomery Ward; in 1973 he was transferred to south Florida when they acquired Jefferson Stores. Subsequent employment in south Florida upon leaving their employment in 1982 was with Wholesale Plus, General Plastics, Sun Graf, Miami Rescue Mission and Robin Lewis Insurance.
Jim’s greatest love, aside from Judy, was his love for God and the church; he was a member of the Cooper City Church of God. His passion was to study the Bible; he was most happy teaching the Bible or financial planning either in a class format or one on one.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Ross, and two of his sisters, Pauline McCormack and Adele Marano. He is survived by his wife, Judy, and his sister, Renee (Michael) Stith. Also surviving him are an end-of-life daughter, Edmarie (Christopher) Edwards-Hall and an end-of-life son, Robin (Edna) Lewis.
To honor Jim’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. We are rejoicing with Jim as he often said, “I would rather be there than here.” “To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8 AMP).
