Mr. Jean Paul Felix was born on November 11, 1947, in Cayes-Jacmel, Haiti. He was the beloved son of the late Mr. Paul Emmond Felix, a successful carpenter, and Mrs. Aidemila Desir, a devoted homemaker. Jean was the fourth child and the only son among seven children. He peacefully departed this life on November 1, 2026, at the age of 78.
Jean attended primary school at École Nationale Rurale in Cayes-Jacmel, Haiti. Following the death of his father, Jean assumed significant responsibilities within the family and became a father figure and role model to his mother and six sisters. At just 13 years old, he began working to help support his family.
Despite the challenges and responsibilities placed upon him at such a young age, Jean remained determined to pursue his education. He successfully completed his secondary education in Ville-Jacmel, Haiti. After high school, he attended vocational school, where he trained as a clothing tailor.
On June 7, 1977, Jean married his beloved wife, Marie Aniese Felix. Shortly afterward, the couple relocated to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Jean was already the proud father of his firstborn son, Reginald Felix, from a previous relationship. Together with his wife, he welcomed a daughter, Marie Dieunette Felix.
For many years, Jean worked as a clothing tailor from home and served as a supervisor at a factory called Richard Manufacturer, which produced belts and handbags in Port-au-Prince. In addition to his professional work, Jean was a businessman and entrepreneur. He owned two businesses: a boutique where he sold food and a pawnshop. Jean also owned a motorcycle he used to ride around town for business and pleasure.
In 1980, Jean immigrated to the United States, settling in Miami, Florida, in search of better opportunities and a brighter future for himself and his family.
In 1986, Jean was reunited with his son, Reginald Felix, in the United States. Through hard work, determination, and perseverance, he eventually became a U.S. citizen. Ten years later, he brought his daughter, Marie Dieunette Felix, to the United States. By then, he had also welcomed two more children, Micheal and Johnson Felix.
Jean's generosity extended beyond his immediate family. He helped make it possible for his siblings and extended family members to join him in the United States, opening doors to opportunities and a better future for those he loved.
In 2003, Jean moved from his home in Miami, Florida, and relocated to several different places before eventually settling in Miramar, Florida, in 2007. There, he shared his life with his longtime companion, Jeanine Moise, who remained by his side until the Lord called him home.
Jean was born and raised in a Protestant Christian family. Following the passing of his father, he gradually stopped attending church. However, he maintained his faith in God and remained spiritually connected throughout his life.
During the last couple of years of his life, Jean maintained a special prayer relationship with Sister Anita, who continued to keep him in her prayers until the end.
On the evening of October 22, 2016, Jean began experiencing pain in his legs. He sought medical attention the following day, October 23, and was subsequently referred to a specialist. After undergoing an MRI, doctors discovered bleeding in his spinal cord.
On October 24, 2016, Jean underwent surgery. The following day, October 25, his doctor informed the family that Jean might never walk again. He remained hospitalized for approximately four months before eventually being discharged.
From that moment forward, Jean endured multiple surgeries, tremendous physical pain, and countless challenges until his passing. He also suffered a stroke in 2024.
Despite the obstacles he faced, Jean never gave up. He wanted to live, and he fought courageously for his life until his very last breath. His longtime companion, Jeanine Moise, including his stepsons, James-Harry Moise and Jean Elie Poulard, stood faithfully by his side and lovingly cared for him until God called him home on the morning of November 1, 2026, at 1:55 a.m.
Jean was a caring, reserved, protective over his family. His love and concern for his family extended far beyond his immediate household. Even during his illness, he continued to provide financial support to extended family members in Haiti, quietly helping others without seeking recognition.
Jean was a hardworking and resourceful man, who was admired for his exceptional skills and his ability to fix almost anything with his hands. He earned the nickname "Boss Polo" because of his remarkable talents and craftsmanship.
Jean also took great pride in his appearance. He loved dressing well, smelling good, and looking youthful. He was known for his hats, or "Képi," and you could often find him wearing one, even when dressed up for special occasions. He wanted to stay and look young forever.
Beyond his talents and personal style, Jean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He enjoyed making people laugh and was always ready to crack a joke. He not only spoiled his grandchildren but also showed tremendous love and affection toward his nieces and nephews. He was a counselor, a source of encouragement, and a helping hand to many.
Jean's life was a testament to hard work, resilience, generosity, and unconditional love. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he worked so hard to support.
Jean is now reunited with his beloved parents and his three sisters who preceded him in death: Lina Felix, Nola Felix, and Amonie Felix.
He leaves behind a loving family and countless relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
