Laura Hardy

Laura was born in Miami Beach, FL. at St. Francis Hospital, to Eugene H. and Virginia (Thompson) Swearingen on November 12, 1958. She attended Cooper City High School with the class of 1976. She continued her education and graduated from the University of Miami. Laura married John Hardy on February 14, 1980 at a church in Dania Beach. She worked as a reservations agent for Eastern Airlines until they closed their doors and eventually ran the office for La Mar Condominiums. However, the title that she was proudest of, was Mom. She was involved in both the Girl and Boy Scouts of America, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Through these organizations and others, she received multiple awards and certifications.

Laura is preceded in death by her son Christopher, her parents Eugene and Virginia, and her brother Stephen.

Laura is survived by her husband John, her daughter Shannon, and her cousins Nevra Schiavon, Reina Swearingen, Rebecca Cimaglia and their families.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 9:30AM on Saturday June 27, 2026, at Fred Hunter Funeral Home in Davie followed by graveside service at 1:00pm at Lauderdale Memorial Cemetery. A wake will be held at the American Legion Post # 36 after the conclusion of services. Arrangements are being handled by Fred Hunter Funeral Home Davie.
