Mr. Leo J Scalia Sr.

Mr. Leo J. Scalia Sr., 96, of Tamarac, Florida, passed away on September 25, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale. Leo was born in Akron, Ohio, to Joseph and Mary Scalia on November 23, 1928. He attended St. Vincent - St. Mary High School and later pursued his education at Kent State University. In February of 1965, he married his beloved wife Peggy, also known as Smitty, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York, NY.

Leo dedicated 29 years of his career as a heavy machine operator at the Publix Distribution Center. He also served proudly in the United States Navy Reserves. A compassionate and devout Catholic, Leo was actively involved in The Ohio Club and was a huge fan of Notre Dame.

He is preceded in death by his wife Peggy and his parents, Mary and Joseph Scalia Sr. Leo is survived by his daughter Lisa and her husband Christopher Ryan, his son Leo J. Scalia Jr., and his brother Joseph Scalia Jr.

A Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Fred Hunter's Funeral Home, located at 2401 S University Drive, Davie, FL 33324. A Graveside Service will follow from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2401 Davie Rd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33317.

Leo will be remembered as a beloved and compassionate individual who touched the lives of many.
