Luis was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on December 28, 1933. In 1960, Luis immigrated to the United States sponsored by a missionary and fulfilled his dream of becoming an American Citizen in New York City. He brought his childhood sweetheart, Nora Carpio to the U.S. and married her in 1962.
Luis earned a degree as a mechanic in an automotive technology program. This prepared him for his career as the Superintendent for the Miami Motor Pool, overseeing the mechanics and the fleet of vehicles for the City of Miami Police Department, in the City of Miami, Florida, where he retired from in 2007, after nearly 20 years of service.
Throughout his lifetime, Luis’ hobbies included boxing, singing, dancing, and tennis. Luis is remembered as a kindhearted, generous, fun-loving soul that was always smiling, and brought joy to all of those around him.
He is survived by the love of his life Norma, his daughters Katherine, Giselle, Joyce, his grandchildren Luis Enrique, Stephanie, Ashley, Elisha, Rebecca, and his great grandchildren Myles, Shanti, Alex, Calvin and Miqueas.
