Margaret was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to John and Margaret Odinotsky, on February 20, 1925. She and her family moved to Miramar in November of 1958. She worked as the Parks and Recreation Department Director for The City of Miramar for over 20 years, where she received many awards for her dedication to the citizens of Miramar. In 1990 Margaret moved to the Forest Ridge Community in Davie and was on the Board of Directors for the homeowner’s association. After retiring she spent much of her time gardening, reading, and enjoying retired life.
Margaret is survived by her three children, Jack Hurley (Diane), Bonnie Barnes, Nancy Schuler (Robert), her sister, Elsie Froustet, granddaughter, Arianna Bailey (Drew), and her great-granddaughter, Willa Bailey. Her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Although there are no local services, the family will have a private Celebration of Life Gathering on February 20th which would have been her 100th birthday.
Cremation arrangements are by Fred Huner’s Funeral Home.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the many home health care workers who assisted Margaret in the past few years, and to VITAS Hospice Care.
Margaret owned many pets throughout her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Humane Society of Broward County, where she adopted her much loved cat, Lizzie.
