Steven was born to Daniel and Vivian (Moeller) Pederson on June 11, 1971, in Greeley, Colorado. Steven graduated from CU Denver with a Business Degree in 1998 and the University of Colorado at Denver in 2003 with a Master's Degree in Business. Steven was the Deputy Flight Chief of Financial Operations at WPAFB in Dayton, Ohio.
Steve never stopped learning. At the age of 14 Steven started golfing and wanted to go pro. He took up surfing while living in Hawaii; was an instrument rated pilot and just hours away from his commercial license; performed glider piloting in Hawaii as part of his commercial license training; and enjoyed paragliding while living in Hawaii. At age 24 he decided to study piano. His instructors included Hyunsoon Whang who was trained at the Julliard School of Music and is on the faculty at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma. Steve brought many hours of musical joy to himself and those who had the privilege of both hearing him play and also attending concerts with him. Steve showed compassion to disabled by being a Host Home Provider during his college years. He also had great love for animals and leaves behind his dog, Jack. He enjoyed attending Major League Baseball games. Steve enjoyed snow skiing when visiting Colorado. He also enjoyed gardening, particularly of tomatoes and flowers. He traveled to several European countries while family visited him when he was living in Germany. He needed little help from maps and GPS. It was an experience to ride the autobahn with him as well as tour many European sites in England, Scotland, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Brussels, and Switzerland.
Steven will be remembered for the many hours of laughter and quick wit and will be greatly missed by his mother, Vivian Pederson; father, Daniel Pederson; sister Roxann Slater; niece Kaitlyn Nicole Slater; nephew Christian Slater; aunts Joy (Hal) Comstock, Lavonne (James) Gardner; Arlene (Jerrlyn) Bauder; Bonnie Rance; and uncle Llew (Joyce) Pederson and many extended family members.
Steven was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Edward and Anne (Arbeiter) Moeller; his paternal grandparents Carl Pederson and Edith Pederson Morrison; and his uncle Eugene Charles Moeller, and cousin Kelvin Moeller.
A special thank you to WPAFB for their help with all sorts of details both before the family arrived as well as much support to the family after their arrival in Ohio. WPAFB truly acted as family in their love and caring with so many details, and the family will always be incredibly appreciative of their support.
A precious, intimate memorial service was held in Ohio with family. A memorial service is planned in Colorado at a later date.
